About this event
A discussion with a pelvic health physical therapist
Urinary urgency is a common condition and is increasingly common as people age. It involves a sudden, strong urge to urinate that is hard to control, and may lead to incontinence. Although some may just accept this as a "sign of getting older," there are many treatment options available for this condition, including pelvic health rehabilitation. Addressing this issue is pertinent not only to improving quality of life, but may also decrease the risk of falling. This talk will give an overview of the causes of this condition as well as a rehabilitation approach to management, from a pelvic health physical therapist's perspective.
Bio: Lisa Charron, PT, DPT, is a pelvic health physical therapist who specializes in the treatment of pelvic health concerns such as urinary, bowel, and sexual health dysfunction, pelvic pain, and perinatal care. She received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island, and has undergone specialized training in pelvic health through both the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She treats patients at the Spaulding Outpatient Center of Kent Hospital in East Greenwich, RI.
