This conference is the only event of its kind that brings together older adults from all over the state to speak up for what we want ? to age in the community with independence and dignity.
Why a Conference on The Politics of Aging? The Rhode Island population is aging and by 2030, one out of every five persons will be age 65 or over. Baby boomers will be in their 80s. Many will need help with daily living activities. Issues relating to aging and the concerns and contributions of older adults demand the attention of RI policymakers. In this conference, we will explore some of those issues. Politics involves making decisions about the public good. The voices of older adults must be heard loudly so these issues are prominent on the agendas of our elected officials.
